9/29/11: FBI Asks for Public's Help — Prosecutor's Death Remains a Mystery — The FBI, along with Attorney General Eric Holder, marked the 10-year anniversary of the passing of Thomas Crane Wales. Mr. Wales, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, was shot to death in his home — 10 years later, the motive for the killing remains unknown as does the assailant(s). The Northwest RCFL supported the investigation — click here to read the FBI's press release. The NWRCFL officially opened for business on September 9, 2005. Any law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in Oregon and Southwest Washington may now submit requests for assistance and training simply by using this Web site or contacting us directly.

What is an RCFL?
An RCFL is a one-stop, full service forensics laboratory and training center devoted entirely to the examination of digital evidence in support of criminal investigations, such as, but not limited to–
- Terrorism
- Child Pornography
- Crimes of violence
- The Theft or Destruction of Intellectual Property
- Internet Crimes
- Fraud.
